Subject: | [amigactive] Web hosting providers. |
As I'm giving my site a much needed overhaul, I am thinking about
having my site hosted properly rather than just having the URL
forwarded as I do at the moment.
Easily seems like quite a good option at £35 per year.

One thing that concerns me is the 5GB per year transfer limit.
I've seen their usage tables and from their stats I wouldn't use this
much, but you never know, Amiga Active might plug my site and all of a
sudden I'm inundated with visitors and the traffic results in the site
being pulled or me receiving a large bill.
The info on data transfer is here, the section is titled "How much
data transfer do I need".

The only other concern I have is being able to maintain it all from
the Amiga. Shouldn't be a problem with the £35 option as it offers
FTP access (the cheaper option requires you to use their own upload
tool). Any opinions on Easily welcomed.
I'm looking to spend probably £30-£50 on hosting, i.e not cheap and
cheerful, but not professional solutions either. It needs to be able
to be maintained from an Amiga and this should include if possible
being able to make any payments online.
Perhaps a roundup of hosting solutions for hobbyists would be an idea
for a future AA article?
Any comments/recommendations appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
